A family history

The ALLOT family share their love and passion for woodworking and cabinetmaking...

The story began in 1812 ...

1812 1860

In 1812 Jean Allot worked as a Tanner and Cooper.

His father taught him leather work, but the economic realities of this period led him to the manufacture of barrels.

After 7 years in Algeria in military engineering, Pierre Allot, his eldest son, settled in Volorio in the Prenessaye (Côtes d'Armor).

1900

He had 5 children, four of whom joined him in the family business. One of them, Michel had a son named Victor who would later become the director and lead the company to new horizons manufacturing sedans, carriages and traditional furniture.

1945 - 1979

After the second world war, Victor continued the business while transmitting the love of his craftship to his son Marcel.

In 1979, Marcel passed to his sons Michel and Rene the management of the company. Studying at the Ecole Nationale Supérieur des Arts Décoratifs and the Ecole Boulle, they continued to develop the company reputation as fine cabinetmakers.

1982 - 2000

Under the leadership of Rene ALLOT, workshops increased while integrating new crafts such as Chair woodworking (1982), Lacquering and gilding (1989), Marquetery (1992). He also anticipated the success of Internet through the creation of one the first furniture website. This supported the international visibility and they awarded Contracts from USA and Middle-East.

2000 - 2005

Attention to detail and perfect craftsmanship separate this family business apart. Highly-qualified employees with great understanding of their areas of specialization, carefully selected materials and the implementation of a workshop, make this Atelier unique in France: it retains the eight trades of cabinet-making and the smoothest processing of the contract, from the draft right us to its fulfillment.

2006

Our craftsmen won the Living Heritage Company award in 2006, granted by the French government. in addition our company is a member of Ateliers d’Art de France

2008- 2013

With more than 30 years of experience in the fi ne furniture making, this company is able to meet the highest quality demands. Now in its eighth generation, this family business continues to develop as a traditional, future-oriented and international craft enterprise with 24 employees, all specialists in cabinet making.

Since 2014

After the two-hundred years' celebration in 2012, Ateliers ALLOT open a Showroom in the centre of Paris.
